Strings 'n' Things:
Meet the Musicians

Between us we have many years of high-profile professional playing experience. Let us introduce ourselves:

Kathryn Evans
Kathryn Evans: violin & viola

Originally from Christchurch, Kathryn played as a principal first violin with The Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra at the Sydney Opera House for over twenty years. Since then, she has freelanced - doing studio work, playing in chamber groups and for shows - and has taught from beginners to diploma standard. She came back to live in New Zealand in 2001, moving to Wellington in 2004. She currently teaches the violin from her home.

Shelley Wilkinson
Cathryn Morris: violin

Cathryn hails from England where she studied Violin Performance at the Royal College of Music. She came to New Zealand in 1996 and played with the Auckland Philharmonia and the Auckland Chamber Orchestra for 9 years. Cathryn has taught the violin extensively across all levels. She is a new arrival to Wellington.

Blanche Charles
Blanche Charles: 'cello

Also Christchurch-bred, Blanche came to Wellington in 1968 to join the then NZBC Orchestral Trainees, where she studied for two years. In 1970 she joined the 'cello section of the NZ Symphony Orchestra where she remained until 1997. Since leaving the NZSO she has been teaching the 'cello at Queen Margaret College and privately at home.
